Anthony Volpe Named to 2022 MLB All-Star Futures Game

Somerset Patriots shortstop and Yankees No. 1 prospect, Anthony Volpe, will represent the New York organization in the 2022 MLB All-Star Futures Game. The New Jersey native is thought of as the future of the Yankees infield and will have an opportunity to showcase his talents on a national stage during MLB All-Star festivities.

After a slow start to the season at Double-A Somerset, Volpe has been on fire of late. He has raised his average to .244 on the season, including 19 doubles, 11 home runs, and 41 RBI while consistently batting from the leadoff spot in the Patriots lineup.

Volpe's 33 stolen bases lead the Eastern League.

There is a special connection for Yankees fans as Volpe is a Watchung, New Jersey native who starred at Delbarton High School in Morristown before being drafted by New York in the first round (30th overall) in the 2019 MLB Draft.

MLB Pipeline named Volpe the Hitting Prospect of the Year in 2021 after he batted .294/.423/.604 with 27 homers and 33 steals in 109 games between Low-A and High-A while topping the Minors in runs (113) and ranking second in OPS (1.027) and ranking third in extra-base hits (68). He entered the 2022 season ranked as the Yankees' No. 1 prospect and the No. 8 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline.
