Can Giants RB Saquon Barkley Be Traded Before The NFL Draft?

It was announced last Wednesday by ESPN’s Senior NFL Reporter Adam Schefter via Instagram that the New York Giants will be “listening “to phone calls in regard of a potential trade deal for current star running back Saquon Barkley.

Barkley was drafted by the Giants back in 2018 as the number two overall pick out of Penn State University in the NFL Draft. Since joining the team, his career has taken an up and down phase.

In 2018, he averaged 1,307 rushing yards,5.0 yards per carry, 11 rushing touchdowns, and 91 reception yards. Since then, he averaged a combined of 1,630 rushing yards, 3.3 yards per carry, eight rushing touchdowns, and 98 receiving yards within his recent three seasons with the team.

Since the team is clearly interested in moving on from him without any specific clarification whether they will or won’t heading in the 2022 season, the team has yet to come clean about the rumor to address whether it’s true or not.

But the question that still lies is if they were to move on from Barkley, will it be before or the day of the NFL Draft? The answer is yes, as we already seen within two weeks of free agency, nobody’s untouchable and can be moved around anytime and to any team.

Where could Barkley go?

Teams that can use Barkley’s presence are the Pittsburgh Steelers, due to lack of running back depth behind Najee Harris, vice versa with Steelers bitter divisional rivals the Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks, and the San Francisco 49ers.

These teams could be on the hunt for a running back that can come in and make an instant impact on their team due to lack of running back depth on their roster, along with the draft being around the corner. A potential deal with any of these teams can be Barkley and a last round pick this season or the seasons ahead for at least a first round or second draft pick.

Don’t be surprised if Barkley was to be moved to either one of these teams or anywhere else before the draft or the day of the draft.
