Devils to face Flyers in first-ever NHL outdoor game at MetLife Stadium

The National Hockey League announced on Saturday that for the first time, MetLife Stadium will be the site of two games as part of the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series on February 17 and 18, 2024, with the New Jersey Devils hosting the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, February 17th. The New York Rangers will host rival New York Islanders on Sunday, February 18th.

The two days of games will mark the first time a single venue will host four teams in front of fans.

"Our organization and fans are extremely proud to participate in the first outdoor NHL game hosted in New Jersey, especially at MetLife Stadium, so close to where championship memories were made," said David Blitzer and Josh Harris, Managing Partners, New Jersey Devils. "This marquee event against our Turnpike rivals on the national stage will create new memories for our fans, and a tremendous experience for our players."

This will be the second outdoor game the Devils will participate in, as they faced the Rangers at Yankee Stadium in 2014. New Jersey head coach Lindy Ruff was head coach of the Buffalo Sabres when they played in the first-ever Winter Classic at the formerly named Ralph Wilson Stadium (home of the Buffalo Bills) against the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2008

The Devils are coming off of 112 point season where they advanced to the Eastern Conference quarterfinals after defeating the Rangers in a grueling seven game series in the first round of the playoffs.

"Obviously, our whole team is really excited to be able to play in an outdoor game here in New Jersey." said Nico Hischier, captain of the New Jersey Devils. "It's something I have never experienced, and it will definitely be an event to remember."

Ticket information, broadcast options and other information will made available at a later date.
