Dynamic Sky Blue FC Players Selected As Allocated Players for 2021 Season

The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) released its list of allocated players for the 2021 season this week. An "allocated player" is a player whose salaries are paid by either the U. S. Soccer Federation or Canada Soccer.  Sky Blue FC will have three of the thirty-two allocated players for the NWSL this season.

This season's allocated players from the United States include forward Carli Lloyd and forward/defender Midge Purce, and joining them from Canada is goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan.

The always-dominant Carli Lloyd led the Sky Blue scoring in 2019 with eight goals and one assist in her fourteen appearances with the club. While missing the 2020 Challenge Cup and Fall Series with an injury she suffered before the 2020 Pre-Season, Lloyd returns more determined than ever and ready to help lead Sky Blue FC in their 2021 campaign for an NWSL Championship.

Midge Purce arrived at Sky Blue FC in a trade with the Portland Thorns in January 2020. She made an immediate impact, starting in all of her nine appearances for the club between the Challenge Cup and the Fall Series, knotting one goal and two assists in the process.

The always charismatic Kailen Sheridan is the sole Canadian allocated player for Sky Blue FC. She is coming off a stellar 2020 year, where she was awarded the Golden Glove by Verizon for her phenomenal performances as a goalkeeper during the Challenge Cup, and coming off a Fall Series where she won Save of the Week in a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Washington Spirit. She is currently under evaluation for an injury received during the 2021 SheBelieves Cup.

Sky Blue FC kicks off the season in the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup, which begins April 9.
