FDU’s Julianna Spina Won Northeast Conference Co-Bowler of the Week

Julianna Spina, a junior on the FDU Women’s Bowling team, earned Northeast Conference Co-Bowler of the Week on January 25, marking this as the second-straight award for Spina and fourth-consecutive award for FDU.

Finishing fourth individually, Spina led all bowlers at the meet, which featured 22 of the top 25 teams in the nation as ranked by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA). Spina posted high games of 268 and 266 in the first two contests of the day.

Spina shot 74 strikes in 134 attempts and had an overall average of 20.75 pins per frame, which was the highest of any bowler in the competition. She also led in traditional frame average by nearly two pins and went without an open frame in 13 contests for a total of 134 frames of action.

Now in her third season at FDU, Spina hit 26 9-pin spares and averaged 20.03 pins in 32 10th-frame attempts. She is studying biology at FDU’s Metropolitan campus and is also the treasurer of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

FDU is preparing for the Prairie View A&M Invitational in Texas, scheduled to be held from Friday, January 27 through Sunday, Jan. 28 at the International Training and Resource Center in Arlington.
