Freehold Township advances to Shore Conference Tournament Final

Top ranked Freehold Township girls' soccer improved to 14-1 on the season with a 3-0 win over St. John Vianney in the Shore Conference Tournament semifinals on Wednesday They advanced to the finals and will face Howell on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the Shore Conference Tournament final. The match was close throughout with a great battle between both teams. The game plans for both these teams went as planned, which made the score closer than people thought originally.

St. John Vianney matched up well against Freehold Township in this match as they put the pressure on right away, played very defensively, sat back and tried to catch Freehold on the counterattack throughout the game. They did the same thing in the second half putting but gave up two more goals towards the end of the match. Even though they lost 3-0 on Wednesday, Saint John Vianney can learn from this and still feel confident with the game plan they had.

Freehold Township defense was fantastic tonight with goalkeeper Ashley Moore making key saves when St. John Vianney had opportunity with the shots. The defense got on the ball right away to each spot on the field. St. John Vianney had trouble getting shots off but couldn't convert when they got opportunities. Freehold had key clears on defense while Moore had some big saves against St. John Vianney which helped them hold the 3-0 lead.

The offense for Freehold Township was also on point tonight as they got a lot of shot opportunities scored three goals, made great passes as a team, not rushed and kept it simple. Hailey Santiago, Gabby Parker and Shea Jackson all scored for Freehold Township with Santiago being the player of the match. The junior put the defense on their toes throughout the match as she confused them and had her way against St. Johns Vianney's defense.

Freehold Township got tested tonight with the game being close but was able to stay composed and play their game. The Lancers played tough defense throughout, but the Patriots were able to get the big goals they needed to advance. Freehold Township continued their strong season with a resounding win and will be looking to add hardware to their stellar 2022 season on Saturday.
