Georgian Court women's lacrosse tops Dominican College on Senior Day

Georgian Court Women's Lacrosse picked up a massive win at home against Dominican College, 20-15, on Senior Day. Coming into Saturday's game, Georgian Court was trying to get to .500 while Dominican College looked to continue the strong start early in the season.

Georgian Court (7-7) started slowly to begin the game with Dominican College scoring early, getting the looks they were looking for against the Lions. Then the Lions started to pick it up, scoring goals and playing excellent team lacrosse. At halftime Georgian Court and Dominican College were locked in the huddle talking about their game plans for the second half, trying to make the proper adjustments led by Lions head coach Samantha Hosford and Dominican College Coach Rob Grella.

The second half got intense initially, but the Lions started to pull away from Dominican College (10-3) throughout the third period. Some calls went against both teams, and the ref had to make tough calls that the teams did not agree with. The game was about momentum shifts and which team could overcome these calls. Dominican College started to make a late push putting pressure on the Lions in the fourth period, then Georgian Court scored a couple of goals. Coach Rob Grella from Dominican College called a timeout to regroup and get his team to stay on track. Dominican College made another run but fell short at the end by five against Georgian Court Lions.

Georgian Court Women's Lions stars of the game were junior Riley O'Connor with six goals and senior Sabrina Chandler, who finished with four goals with two free possessions.

Dominican College had some positive outcomes even though they lost today. Their stars were freshman Grace Destasio with four goals and freshman Caitlin Costello with four goals with one free possession.
