Saint Peter's KC Ndefo Named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year

Saint Peter's senior forward KC Ndefo was named the 2021-22 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year on Tuesday. The announcement was made during the MAAC Preseason Awards Show on ESPN3.

Ndefo is the two-time defending MAAC Defensive Player of the Year award recipient and anchors the Peacocks' squad on the defensive end of the floor. He led the nation in blocked shots last season as a junior. Throughout his career however, he has become an all-around star and is by far the most complete player on Saint Peter's talented roster.

Last season, Ndefo led the team with 13.7 points, 3.6 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game. His 342 points, 162 rebounds, 91 blocks, and 38 assists through 25 games were all career highs. The Peacocks reached the MAAC Championship Semifinals last season and were selected to finish second in the Preseason MAAC Coaches Poll behind defending champion Iona.

Under head coach Shaheen Holloway, Saint Peter's is the only program in the league to reach the semifinals of the conference tournament in each of the last two seasons. Holloway will rely heavily on Ndefo to take this team deep into the postseason once again.

Also receiving preseason honors was junior guard Daryl Banks III. Last season, Banks averaged 11 points, 2.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game for the Peacocks. He is a threat to shoot from anywhere on the floor.
