Kean extends win streak to three after prevailing over Stockton

Kean faced off against Stockton Wednesday night for their sixth conference game of the NJAC women’s basketball season, winning 64-54. Leading up to this matchup, the Cougars won four of their last five games while the Ospreys won two of their previous five games.

The first half saw an even matchup between the two teams. Kean’s Shannon McCoy led the half with 13 points and Stockton’s Ionyonia Alves was close behind with 11 points. McCoy went 4-5 from the paint and 3-4 three point field goals leading the offense. The Ospreys led the first quarter 19-14 and the second quarter 28-23. Both teams held ground with their defensive efforts making the offense the key point of the half. 

The second half entailed a dominant offensive performance by the Cougars. Brittany Graff led Kean, making three, three-point field goals and leading the team with 13 points and four steals. The Cougars held the Ospreys to four points in the third quarter compared to the 21 points they scored. The fourth quarter allowed the Ospreys to score 22 points outscoring the Cougars by two, but it wasn’t enough for them to steal the win.

Kean ended the game winning 64-54 to add onto their winning streak and increase their conference record to 5-1.
