New York Jets: QB Zach Wilson Is Back: Why This Is A Good Thing

Quarterback Zach Wilson is back, and it is a sight to behold.

While the 2021 second overall pick was out with injury, QB Joe Flacco was pretty decent in his first three starts of the season as he threw for 901 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions and went 1-2 as a starter. Everyone knows that Flacco was just a placeholder for Wilson who is returning from a knee injury suffered in Week 1 of the preseason.

The Jets' offense didn't really miss a beat with Flacco as they are ranked fifth in the NFL in passing yards and ninth in total offense. However, in two out of those three games, the offense felt out of sync. The number of points scored in those three games? Nine in Week 1, 31 in Week 2, and 12 in Week 3. If you are going to be a playoff team, offensive inconsistencies cannot happen.

With Wilson returning, the Jets' offense will have the opportunity to get stability and bounce back. Wilson is entering his sophomore season and has lofty expectations. With the emergence of young WR Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall, Wilson should start to establish a relationship with both of them. Let's face it: Wilson and Hall are the two best offensive weapons that they have, and they have to be in sync with each other.

However, there is one thing that Jets' fan should be worried about: The offensive line has been in shambles. In three games this season, the Jets allowed nine sacks. To make things, even worse, OT George Fant will miss multiple games with an ankle injury. The offensive line is becoming more depleted by the second, which could lead to Wilson potentially getting injured.

Hope it doesn't come to that, but Wilson is the spark the offense desperately needs.

It will happen.
