New York Jets vs Pittsburgh Steelers: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Well, that was unexpected. For the second time in two weeks, the New York Jets came back from a deficit in the fourth quarter to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers by the final score of 24-20.

Zach Wilson, who made his season debut, helped orchestrated the game-winning drive capped off with a rookie running back game-winning TD run. Steelers made a change in QB in the second half, putting in Kenny Pickett who helped jumpstart the offense, but it just wasn't enough.

The Jets are 2-2 to start the season and are at .500 for the first time since 2018. Yes, it's been three years. With that in mind, here are The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of this epic game:

The Good:

Zach Wilson: Despite returning from injury, Wilson was pretty decent, throwing for 252 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. However, fans and critics will only remember his game-winning drive. Wilson went a perfect 5/5 during the drive, setting up RB Breece Hall's game-winning touchdown. Also before the drive, Wilson basically told his teammates "let's score a touchdown."

Breece Hall: It seems like every week rookie RB Breece Hall is getting even better. Hall rushed for 66 yards on 17 carries including the game-winning touchdown with 16 seconds left. The more games he plays, the more he will get better.

Sauce Gardner: Sauce Garnder's stats for this game against the Steelers was simply amazing:

  • Seven Targets
  • Two catches allowed (nine yards)
  • One force interception
  • 39.6 Passer Ratings Allowed

Like Hall, every week Gardner is getting better.

Tyler Conklin: Zach Wilson's favorite target will be Tyler Conklin who had the big catch during the game-winning drive. Slowly but surely, Conklin is quickly becoming a part of the offense.

The Bad:

Jets Offensive Line: Another game another injury for the Jets as rookie OL Max Mitchell was carted off with an ankle injury. This hurt them as Wilson spent the majority of the afternoon running around for his life and staring down Steelers defenders as soon as the ball was snapped. This will be a huge problem moving forward.

Penalties Galore: The Jets had seven penalties for 64 yards. Way too high.

The Ugly:

Surprisingly, there is no ugliness to this game.

Three Stars of The Game:

QB Zach Wilson: 252 yards one touchdown one interception

RB Breece Hall: 17 carries for 66 yards (game-winning touchdown)

Tyler Conklin: Three receptions for 54 yards
