Red Bulls try to get back on track against the Revolution

After that lackluster performance in our Nation's Capital and the biggest rivalry match on the calendar for the New York Red Bulls, it's time that they go out to try to earn the full three points back at home as they host the red hot leaders of the east in the New England Revolution.

For the first time in a very long time, the New England Revolution has been dominating the league like it was nobody's business, converting points in 13 out of their 16 matches, most of them at home. But can this young Red Bulls side who nearly stole a point in their last visit to Gillette Stadium come back to Harrison and finally do some damage?

"Yeah, I think right now, we understand which opponent is coming on Saturday. Of course, we have respect, but I think the most important thing is that we have a big belief in our style of play and in our quality and our football," said Gerhart Struber, "We have not so much to concentrate on the opponent, it is nice that they come here, but we have the chance to play against the top team in the league and we can show one more time against a top opponent, how is our level, how is our reaction after a game like D.C. and this is a big chance, and we love to go into challenges like that. This is more that we have a focus and concentration in our big quality and in our style of play."

This match will be another huge test for the Red Bulls backline as they are currently shorthanded on center backs due to injury. No Sean Nealis, Andres Reyes, or Aaron Long as they are all out with injuries and so far Tom Edwards has played admirably, going from fullback to center back. He knows about the huge challenges that face him and his teammates.

"I feel like it is going to be a team defensive show and I feel like the rest defense will be a massive part as they have good quality players, when they get time and space on the ball, they can provide good quality," said Edwards, "We know which players they are, and we are going to try to stop them at their source as quickly as possible and try to keep on them. I feel like obviously, we are at home, and we need to concentrate on ourselves and getting back to everything we are good at and what we were showing in the games before. I am sure we can get a good result this weekend."

With the CONCACAF Gold Cup winding down, we all saw two fantastic semi-final matches being played down in Texas, with the USA defeating Qatar one goal to nil, but Canada losing to Mexico two goals to one. Two members of the Revolution played for their respective countries as Matt Turner will be in the final for the USA, and Tajon Buchanan who scored will be heading back.

While Buchanan will be coming back to the New England Revolution, the amount of rest will be too short for him to earn any minutes on Saturday, but does it really matter if those two players were missing for their club side be an advantage or a disadvantage for the Red Bulls?

The truth is that it really doesn't matter, both Carles Gil & Gustavo Bou are dangerous and they make this side tick loudly. If either one were injured or suspended on yellow card accumulation or sent off on a straight red card the game before, maybe there is a chance. But it's time for the Red Bulls to go out and get three points being back at home.
