Red Bulls trade Florian Valot to Cincy for GAM.

The New York Red Bulls are trying to be active inside the league transfer window, and there are some rumors of bringing over a possible center back and a striker, but until that happens, they had to makes some moves on their own. The club traded French midfielder Florian Valot to FC Cincinnati whom they just played on Wednesday, for $50,000 in General Allocation Money. New York could also earn an additional #50,000 if certain performance-based metrics are met.

“We appreciate all that Florian has given to this club over the last five-plus seasons,” said Head of Sport Kevin Thelwell. “He has been a consummate professional since he joined the club and we wish him all the best moving forward in his career.”

Valot was brought up thru the Red Bulls academy system as he played for the Baby Bulls in the United Soccer League. The native of Pau, France was a part of the USL Bulls Championship side that won the championship back in 2017. He was officially a part of the MLS side during the quarterfinal of the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League as he was a part of the sweep as he helped Bradley Wright-Phillips as he assisted on the second goal of the match.

Valot Battled Injuries

Valot registered three goals and five assists while missing the rest of the season with a torn ACL tear in his left knee during training, 2019 he tore his other ACL when he was tackled down from behind against the San Jose Earthquakes in the home opener.

“Flo is a top talent and a good person to be around on and off the field,” said head coach Gerhard Struber. “We wish him the best moving forward.”

Hopefully, he will be a part of a strong side, but while he was here with the Red Bulls, he was a fantastic player who helped win the USL Championship and worked hard when he was with the first team. Good luck Florian.
