Rough Night For Jersey Shore Blue Claws As They Lose 10-4 Against The Brooklyn Cyclones

The Jersey Shore Blue Claws who lost 10-4 tonight against the Brooklyn Cyclones at home fell to 16-28 on the season and the rough season continues. The Cyclones who are now 20-23 got to the Blue Claws pitching towards the middle of the game. The starters in tonight's matchup were Nick Zwack for the Cyclones and Kyle Glogoski for the Blue Claws. Coming into tonight, Zwack was 1-2 with a 4.23 era and 38 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched. Glogoski was 1-0 with a 0.90 era and 11 strikeouts in 10 innings pitched.

Gologoski struck out the side in the first inning against Brooklyn Cyclones. The Blue Claws scored two early runs to take the pressure off from Gologoski. He had dominant stuff as he went four innings, allowing only two hits, no runs and two walks along with five strikeouts.  Gologoski kept fooling the Cyclones hitters, knowing where to put the ball from catcher Andrick Nava. Gologoski is definitely a name to watch within the organization after his performance on the mound. The decision to go to the bullpen after four inning was intriguing, especially with how well Gologoski was pitching.

After Gologoski left the game, that's when it started to go downhill for the Blue Claws. Dominic Pipkin was the first pitcher out of the bullpen and was credited with the loss. He allowed three hits, seven runs (six earned), two walks and two strikeouts in 1.2 innings. Jonathan Hughes was the next pitcher out of the bullpen, allowing one hit, one walk, three runs (two earned) and one strikeout in 1.1 innings pitched. Andrew Schultz pitched an inning, allowing a hit and a walk with three strikeouts. Carlo Reyes closed out the game with a perfect final inning and a pair of strikeouts.

The Blue Claws defense had a rough night with four errors, allowing the Cyclones to extend innings and put more runs on the board. It seemed like they rushed things tonight and did not execute when needed to. Those four errors were the biggest reason why they lost and need to be better the rest of the series. Brooklyn Cyclones scored four in the fifth and six in the sixth to break the game open. Jersey Shore Blue Claws need to focus on fixing the defense for rest of series.

Here are some interesting about the Jersey Shore Blue Claws this season. So far Blue Claws tallied 159 runs, gave up 199 runs. Rafael Marchan played in Major League Baseball during his career, the only member of the Jersey Shore Blue Claws to do it. This team is young, talented and haven't found a good rhythm yet this season. They will learn from their mistakes, improve each day and put the best possible product on the field for the fans.

What's Next for the Jersey Shore Blue Claws

The Blue Claws will look to bounce back in a big way tonight against Brooklyn Cyclones at 7:05 pm at home. Griff McGarry will be the starter, who is 0-2 with a 5.40 era and 34 strikeouts in 18.1 innings pitched so far this season. The Brooklyn Cyclones still haven't announced the starter for tomorrow. I expect the defense will be better, offense steps up and bullpen bounces back also. They need to try to hold the lead if they get one.
