Rumble on the Raritan Day 1 Game Recaps

Westwood(34) vs. Shore Regional(0)- Westwood rolled past Shore Regional 34-0 in the first game of the Rumble on the Raritan on Friday afternoon at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Junior quarterback Robbie Carcich completed 16 21 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 70 yards while adding two more scores. Senior running back Jack Dugan tallied 54 rushing yards and scored twice.

Carcich got the Cardinals on the scoreboard in the first quarter rumbling 33 yards to the end zone. Once the second quarter commenced, Carcich hit sophomore tight end Tommy Bussanich in the flat; Bussanich found an open space in the field and scrambled in for the 17-yard score.

With time winding down in the first half, Carcich fired a 26-yard touchdown strike down the middle of the seam to Jack Dugan as Westwood led 20-0 at halftime. The Cardinals added two more touchdowns in the second half as they romped to the victory.

Westwood's offense accounted for 308 total yards of offense. Defensively the Cardinals were stifling, limiting Shore Regional to 109 yards offensively, just eight first downs, and forced three turnovers.

Irvington(25) vs. Millville(17)- Irvington powered past Millville 25-17 in the nightcap on Friday of the Rumble on the Raritan at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Blue Knights senior wide receiver Famah Toure accumulated 86 yards rushing while scoring two touchdowns. After a scoreless first quarter, Toure scored on a one-yard run to put Irvington up 6-0 with nine minutes remaining in the second quarter. Millville answered back late in the first half on a 24-yard field goal from senior kicker Jayden Raynis.

In the third quarter, Thunderbolts quarterback Jacob Zamot tossed a pass to senior wide receiver Thomas Smith, who broke free of an Irvington defensive back and sprinted 79 yards to the end zone.

Three minutes later, the Blue Knights reclaimed the advantage on a one-yard score from junior running back Kyshir Desir. With 42 seconds left in the quarter, Irvington extended the advantage to 19-10 on a 65-yard touchdown pass from quarterback CJ Pittman to senior wide receiver Nasir Addision.

Millville refused to go away, quietly trimming the Blue Knight's lead to 19-17 with less than six minutes left in the fourth quarter on a three-yard run from junior running back Naeem Sharp.

Late in the game, Fahmah Toure sealed the Irvington victory by plowing his way in for a nine-yard touchdown, but the two-point conversion failed. However, the Blue Knights' defense forced a turnover on downs to preserve the win.
