Rutgers punter Adam Korsak named to AP Preseason All-America First Team

Rutgers punter Adam Korsak was named to the Associated Press Preseason All-America First Team that was announced on Monday.

The senior from Australia had a breakout 2021 season, being named Second Team All-American for the Associated Press and a finalist for the Ray Guy Award for the nation's best punter. In addition to those honors, Korsak was first-team All-Big Ten (coaches) and second-team All-Big Ten (media).

Despite the Scarlet Knights' 5-8 campaign last season, the kicking game was a highlight as Korsak broke the school punting record and set an NCAA record with an average net punt of 45.2 yards. He also placed 38 punts inside the 20, 16 at the ten-yard line or closer and, more importantly, four stopping at the one-yard line.

Korsak is currently in the middle of a streak of 124 straight punts without a touchback as he holds the Rutgers records for total punts (274) and the longest punt in program history (79 yards).

The AP honor is not the only honor for the distinguished punter, as he has received multiple other honors during the preseason.

It seems as if New Jersey schools create star punters. Earlier this month, Monmouth punter Ryan Kost was named to the CAA Honorable Mention list. The kicking game is a critical part of football, and it seems as if schools in the Garden State are hammering that point home throughout the state.
