Rutgers women's lacrosse falls to Arizona State in overtime

Coming into Sunday's matchup in Piscataway, the Arizona State Sun Devils (4-6) was looking for a much-needed win. At 10-1, Rutgers was having a fantastic season so far and did not disappoint at all when it comes to scoring points.

The matchup was entertaining as both teams went back and forth throughout. The Scarlet Knights had a 6-4 lead going into halftime, then scored two in the third to make it 8-4. Every time Rutgers scored two or three goals in a row, Arizona State Kept coming back and putting pressure on Rutgers. Rutgers held the lead till the fourth when everything changed.

Rutgers was up by two throughout the fourth, and Arizona State closed to one every time and eventually tied it up at 12-12 with 57 seconds left to force overtime.

Graduate student Carly Adams who wears number 40 for Arizona State Sun Devils, scored the game-winning goal with 57 seconds left in overtime to lead Arizona State to a massive 13-12 victory against 14th-ranked Rutgers as they moved to 5-6 on the season.

Taralyn Naslonski finished with two goals and four assists, while Marin Hartshorn added three goals for the Scarlet Knights.

This win for Arizona State could be the momentum swing to the season as they continue to grow as a team at 5-6

For Rutgers, now 10-2, this can be a good thing by not taking teams for granted, learning as a group, see what they can approve on for the next game. The game against the Pac-12 squad could be a great litmus test for a talented team early in the season.
