Seton Hall lands big commitment

Tyrese Samuel declaring for the NBA draft and entering the transfer portal left a big void for Seton Hall. The Pirates are hoping that 6-foot-8 incoming freshman David Tubek can help fill that void. The 6-foot-8 three star senior from Dream City Christian in Arizona averaged nearly seventeen points and ten rebounds per game. Tubek, who was a former Memphis commit chose the Pirates over Utah and Arizona State.

Tubek took an official visit to Seton Hall last week before committing to the Pirates. Seton Hall assistant coach Rasheen Davis was the lead recruiter for Tubek. On committing to Seton Hall David Tubek said, “Playing for Coach Holloway and Coach Davis will help me develop for my basketball future and the education at Seton Hall is incomparable. Playing in the Big East is a great opportunity.”

The Pirates' frontcourt picked up a big boost as freshmen Tae Davis and Elijah Muhammad are the only two players taller than 6-foot-7 who received minutes last season. Alexis Yetna and Abdou Ndiaye both missed the season due to injury, so the addition of Tubek into the frontcourt is crucial.

Tubek joins fellow three star recruit Isaiah Watts as Seton Hall’s 2023 incoming freshman class. The addition of Tubek will help address the issue of the thin Seton Hall front court. Expect Seton Hall to continue to address their front court through the transfer portal in the coming weeks.
