2022 Siloam Wellness Full Court Press Awareness Event

On Saturday, September 3rd, Sarina Dibianca's program, Siloam Wellness Center with the kids ran an in Camden, NJ called Full Court Press for Awareness. Dibianca has done a fantastic job with this program by hosting tons of events for the youth and giving them access to former and current athletes who have been through similar situations like them. She has a great team around her that helps out all the time. The event was held at the Salvation Army Kroc Center.

Salvation Army Kroc Center has a nice setup with a basketball court, gym and swimming pool, which allows them to host events like this one all the time. It was a well-organized event for both the kids and the staff during the day on Saturday. The event was from 9-3 where they had music, food, basketball drills, special guests and a three-point shootout for them.

The special guests were former Boston Red Sox pitcher Tony Vlahovic, former NBA player Jumaine Jones and his family, basketball scout Tony Coleman, former basketball player Rob Hartshorn who played with Jameer Nelson and Delonte West at St. Joseph's, where they had a perfect regular season in 2003-04, and University of Michigan assistant basketball coach Phil Martelli who called over Zoom.

Full court press for Awareness is a three-point shootout competition between schools in the New Jersey area. The purpose is to raise awareness for the rising H.I.V. rates in teens and young adults. This gives them another outlet to make connections, right choices, never give up, stay active and get to their dreams. The kids from Saturday's event were awesome and excited for this opportunity.

The competitors are divided into age groups. Each age group will produce one winner and every shooter gets three shots from each color. Each made shot will count as one point. The last shot is called the money ball, which is worth two points. It helps these kids' confidence to become better shooters and work on their technique for whoever wants to play basketball in the future.

Martelli gave some great advice to the kids on zoom as he made sure they stay focused on the task and take advantage of the resources they have with Siloam. He had great success at St. Joseph's, where he won over 400 games with the Hawks in his 24 years as head coach. These kids from Camden have a great mentor now in Martelli.

Dibianca, the special guests, staff workers, Kia Lyons, Bill Wallace and all the other people who helped did a great job out putting this event together for the kids. Siloam Wellness Center does a great job putting on events, so be on the lookout for their next event.

Also big shout-out to board of director of Siloam Pastor Clarence Jones, his wife Candy and there kids for helping out Sarina host this inspiring event for the kids in Camden New Jersey. They work hard everyday in the community and making sure all the people stay safe. Rob Hartshorn is also a board member of Siloam Wellness.

Pastor Clarence Jones also played pro ball in Europe in his career.
