Somerset Patriots Drop Another Game to the Sea Dogs

On September 15th, the Somerset Patriots continued their struggles against Portland Seadogs as they lost 5-2 with the offense not being consistent. The pitching wasn't bad, but the Patriots couldn't come up with any big hits to come back in the game. Barrett Loseke and Shawn Semple gave up five runs total in the game for the Somerset Patriots while Matt Minnick and Aaron McGarity came in and gave up nothing to give them a chance to come back. The Portland Seadogs were able to execute on the pitches, limit the damage and only gave up three walks.

Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader continued to impress in his rehab assignment with the Somerset Patriots as he went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. He looked locked in and on a mission to make his debut with New York soon. Patriots' manager Dan Fiorio talked about Bader's progress and presence on the team.

"Yea Bader has been awesome to have here," Fiorio said about Bader. "Obviously the type of talent he has, the player he is in the big league, I know our team in the big leagues is really looking forward to having him. Everything he has brought here the guys watching him in the clubhouse, the way he goes about his work has been great. His ability in the outfield getting the ball, tremendous outfielder, plus runner, has been healthy and moving great."

Bader has been a winner throughout his career always and that's the type of player you want on a winning team for sure. Somerset Patriots players and coaches love the way he goes about his business and helping the team win.

The Somerset Patriots had their media day yesterday for Andres Chaparro, Jasson Dominguez, Tyler Hardman, Trey Sweeney and manager Dan Fiorito before the game. Here are some quotes on what they had to say to Jersey Sporting News.

Andres Chaparro talked about which player he likes to watch as a hitter through a translator.

"Hitter he really looks up to is Aaron Judge," Chaparro said through a translator. "Looks at his videos not because of the results he is having, his approach to hitting, what he talks about hitting. A little bit and pieces he can pick up on that can improve his game."

Fiorito discussed about Andres Chaparro's recent success at the plate

"Yea Chapo has been killing it for us," Fiorito said about Chaparro. "Doing an amazing job, I mean we are seeing a huge power streak right now. That's something he always had in his career. Remember from a young age since 2017, always hit for power, find a way, but for me Chapo does so many things well that myself and our organization value. Where controls the strike zone bat to ball skills, lace line drives to right field. If he gets a mistake will do serious damage with it."

Yankees prospect Tyler Hardman talked about being called up to the Somerset Patriots with Trey Sweeney and Jasson Dominguez.

"It's definitely fun to get called up with them and kind of bringing your own group up here," Hardman said. "It makes the transition a little easier, but our spring training was a lot of fun and makes it part of another group of guys that you were with before. Kind of rewarding for the three of us for sure."

Yankees shortstop prospect Trey Sweeney talked about being a part of the franchise.

"Being a Yankee is pretty surreal," Sweeney said. "When you're a young kid, obviously the Yankees are one of the biggest sports team of America. Getting drafted and putting that jersey on was pretty incredible feeling and something I will never forget."
