Somerset Patriots News Of The Week

Big League Rehab Assignment

New York Yankees southpaw relief pitcher Zack Britton will pitch for the Somerset Patriots on Saturday May 29th at TD Bank Ballpark in a rehab assignment. Britton is recovering from elbow surgery during Spring Training, and is expected to pitch multiple games with the Patriots over the next week. The two-time all star was the Yankees closer for a majority of the 2020 season, and has posted a 3.04 ERA through his ten big league seasons.

From Bridgewater To The Bronx

Estevan Florial made Somerset Patriots history on Thursday, as he became the first Patriots player to be called up to the MLB as a New York Yankees affiliate. Florial played in ten games for the Patriots at the beginning of the season, racking up four home runs and six RBI during his time in Bridgewater.

“I’m very happy to see Florial get called up to the big leagues,” said Patriots manager Julio Mosquera. “He has been working to get better each and every day. It’s good to see him get the opportunity. He’s got an amazing talent.”

Vaccination At The Ballpark

The Somerset Patriots as well as New Jersey's two other Minor League Baseball teams announced that they are teaming up with RWJBarnabas Health to bring vaccination clinics to TD Bank Ballpark this summer.

“We are delighted to work with our Minor League Baseball partners to provide COVID-19 vaccinations at their ballparks,” said Margie Heller, Vice President, Strategic Global Partnerships at RWJBarnabas Health. “These community-based vaccination clinics are a great way for us to offer these life-saving vaccines in a fun environment to those who are interested.”

More information about the vaccination clinics will be available shortly.
