Trenton Thunder suffer back-to-back tough losses against State College

Yesterday, the Trenton Thunder continued the home stand against State College on firework night where they lose another tough game 12-8. The team committed five errors, the pitching staff struggled with wild pitches and State College's offense was on fire again.

The fan attendance for the game was 6,674 with a fantastic turnout because of the fireworks. So far this series, Trenton Thunder has the number on all the other categories, but State College has taken advantage of the silly mistakes they have so far made. Between the two games, State College has outscored Trenton Thunder 26-14 so far.

K.C. Hunt (0-1), who won player of the week, started the game for the Trenton Thunder yesterday against State College. He was dominant for the first three innings but struggled in the fourth. Hunt pitched 4.0 innings, allowing three hits, four runs, zero walks and six strikeouts to bring his era to 2.77 on the season.

Then, Devin Milberg came into the game. He pitched 1.1 innings, allowing three hits, five runs (four earned), two walks and two strikeouts. Benjamin Wilson was next, pitching a perfect 1.2 innings and striking out a batter.

Alec Whaley pitched a perfect eighth inning and had one strikeout. Ashe Ammeriaan struggled with command in the ninth as he surrendered four walks and allowed three runs (one earned.) Justin Stewart got the final out of the game. The Trenton Thunder has given up so many wild pitches and walks in this series already. They need to figure out how to cut it down for the next game.

The offense for the Thunder was a little better scoring eight runs and made it interesting at the end,but fell short. They worked the count, made State College throw a lot of pitches, and finished at 4-17 with runners in scoring position. The Trenton Thunder had the momentum early, putting up two runs in the first inning until the fourth. As this team continues the series at home, they need to keep putting the pressure on State College's pitching staff and find that game where Trenton Thunder can put up multiple runs in one inning.

State College's offense has been impressive so far this series, showing the scouts what they can do in big situations. This team has balanced hitting, the bat to ball skills is good, this team steals bases, and they take advantage of the Trenton Thunder's mistakes in a big way scoring 26 runs during the series. They are also good at keeping the opposing teams on their feet the whole game, making the Trenton Thunder give up 10 errors in two games.

Both teams are 6-8 coming into tonight's game as State College will stick to the same game plan, while the Trenton Thunder needs to change things up. A couple of scouts were at yesterday's game watching all the players on these teams.  Ryan Figueroa gets the start today for Trenton Thunder at 1:00 Pm on Father's Day. State College pitcher is still to be decided it says. Trenton Thunder will try to put a better product of baseball for the fans starting today.
