Thunder bounce back against Black Bears in Trenton

Last night, the Trenton Thunder bounced back in a big way, winning 9-3 against West Virginia Black Bears on addiction awareness night. It was also fireworks night again, so the stadium was filled with fans as attendance was 6,3770. They were wearing mixed color uniforms and different numbers supporting addiction awareness. Before the game, they did a ceremony for City of Angels Baseball team and after the game players gave their Jerseys to the people of City of Angels.

Addiction Awareness is really important to support, to recognize and make sure to point out the people who work hard to overcome their issues. A lot of people go thru horrible situations in life but don't know how to get out of it. Sometimes it is tough to talk about this with these stories that each person tells. Yesterday they most of it is mental health, depression and personal that can lead to suicide. With this awareness it allows people to meet others who been thru situations like them and form positive relationships.

What an amazing story yesterday with the City of Angels forming a baseball team, working hard, not giving up on the dream or goal and not getting distracted. The Trenton Thunder did a great job yesterday honoring this team pregame and postgame. It is always inspiring to see stories like this overcoming obstacles, having good friends in their Life's and supporting own families.

The Trenton Thunder's offense and pitching stepped up big yesterday against the West Virginia Black Bears as they felt the crowd energy throughout the game. Matthew Sox made his first start for Trenton, allowing five hits, two runs (one earned), two walks and three strikeouts in four innings of work. Then, the bullpen shutdown their offense giving up one more run on two errors that the defense gave up. The offense was fantastic yesterday all around highlighted by left fielder Ryan McCarthy who had a bases clearing triple for the Trenton Thunder. This offense was able to work the count as they drew nine walks total and got pitches to hit.

The Trenton Thunder's defense up the middle was fun to watch with second baseman Dilan Espinal and shortstop Troy Banks making four double plays against the West Virginia Black Bears. It is important to have strong defense up the middle to help the pitcher out and save more runs. Espinal and Banks will be names to watch out for with the Trenton Thunder as they continue to work hard, and teams start calling them for opportunities.

This team looked locked in, focused and determined yesterday to find a way to win. The Trenton Thunder improved to 25-30 on the season with the big win. They still need to clean up a few things on defense with the errors, but everyone stepped up yesterday making contributions.

Player Spotlight

Ryan McCarthy from the Trenton Thunder needs to get an opportunity from a pro team soon because he can do it all. McCarthy also played football which helps him play the outfield well, hit for power, get on base, play good defense and speed. He showed all of that yesterday against the West Virginia Black Bears.
