Wayne Hills Takes Passaic County Gymnastics Crown

West Milford – Wayne Hills captured the 2022 Passaic County Gymnastics Championship with a 102.325 at West Milford High School.  The Patriots score far outpaced second place West Milford’s score of 89.725 and third place Passaic Valley’s score of 87.525.

Wayne Hills dominated in the individual awards as well.

In the all-around, the Patriots took first and third with Jacqueline Bernard capturing first place with a score of 35.925 and Audry Marnick claiming third with a score of 33.325.  Wayne Valley’s Madeline Voinov broke up the Hills sweep finishing in second, and edging out Marnick (33.375), by 0.05 of a point.

The final vault standings mirrored the all-around, with Bernard (8.950) capturing first, Voinov (8.625) garnering second, and Marnick taking third (8.600).

Bernard again claimed first place in the uneven bars taking the title with an 8.600.  Voinov and Marnick tied for second with identical 8.100’s.  Wayne Hill’s Miyuki Dan finished fourth on the bars with an 8.050.

Passaic Valley saw a gymnast place in the top three on the balance beam with Kourtney Matheis placing third in the event with a 8.150.  Bernard and Voinov again finished one two with scores of 8.950 and 8.600 respectively.

The hosts were represented in the top three on the floor as West Milford’s Ellie Vreeland scored a 9.000 to claim second on the event.  Bernard again claimed first with a 9.425 and teammate Victoria Kragiel rounded out the top three with an 8.750.

Rounding out the team competition, Wayne Valley (87.450) finished in fourth and Clifton (85.300) finished in fifth.
