Week 18 Preview: New York Jets vs Miami Dolphins

This Week 18 matchup is a do or die situation. Unfortunately not for the New York Jets. The Miami Dolphins' fate, however, is on the line. The Dolphins need a win and a New England Patriots loss in order to make it into the postseason. I guess you could say things are on the line for the Jets, too, as in jobs. Here is this week's preview for the season finale

What To Expect

The Last Game Of The Season

With the Seahawks defeating the Jets in Week 17, the Jets will miss out on the playoffs for the 12th consecutive season. In a season where the Jets started out 7-4, they are now 7-9, fourth place in the division. A combination of QB Zach Wilson's poor performance, QB Mike White being hurt, RB Breece Hall missing the entire season and other things, this proved to be a recipe for disaster.

Dolphins' Revenge

The Dolphins were destroyed by the Jets 40-17 in Week 5's matchup. The Dolphins were without QB Tua Tagovailoa due to a concussion. QB Skylar Thompson more than likely will start in Week 18. This Dolphins team is very desperate and will do whatever it takes to beat the Jets.

Just The Facts:

  • The Jets are out of the postseason, and have extended their postseason drought to 12 years (2010)
  • In the last five meetings for these two teams, the Dolphins have won four of those meetings
  • QB Tua Tagovailoa will not start

Five Big Questions

  1. Do or Die for the Dolphins: Will they go to the playoffs?
  2. Will the Jets play spoiler?
  3. Flacco vs Thompson: Who will rise above?
  4. How will the Jets' defense do against the Dolphins' defense minus Tua?
  5. Will the Jets finish the season on a high note?

Who is On The Injury Report

Out: QB Mike White

Questionable: OT Duane Brown (Shoulder), OT George Fant (Knee), CB Brandin Echols (Quadriceps)

Prediction:

The Jets' season is over and they are just playing for pride but what better way to end the season than to kick the Dolphins out of the playoffs. No Tua? The Jets' defense will rise and stop this Dolphins' offense. Got the Jets winning.

Final Score:

Jets 20 Dolphins 10
