Shore Conference Football Week Eight Recap

Rumson-Fair Haven 48, Monmouth Regional 25

Senior running back Peter Lucas powered the Rumson offense on 299 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (6-1) past Monmouth Regional (5-2). Junior fullback Alex Maldjian added two touchdown runs for Rumson-Fair Haven. The Falcons were led by senior Devon Johnson, who had two touchdown catches, added a 2-point conversion catch and kicked a 41-yard field goal.

Toms River South 21, Toms River North 14

Quarterback Jack Huber had two touchdowns and Sam Akiloulo added a touchdown run as the Indians improved to 2-5, completed the Toms River sweep and kept their playoff hopes alive with a victory over the Mariners.

Long Branch 28, Middletown North 21 (OT)

The Lions were stopped on fourth-and-one from the 4-yard line as the Green Wave escaped with a thrilling overtime victory. Senior quarterback Juwan Wilkins threw the game-winning touchdown pass to Matt Clark in overtime. Middletown North forced the extra session when junior quarterback Sean Glenn threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Aidan Campbell with 1:27 left in regulation.

Lakewood 33, Barnegat 14

Lakewood kept their playoff hopes alive with a key victory over Barnegat. Senior quarterback Zyheir Jones had three touchdown runs and also threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Jyheir Jones, who also returned an interception 60 yards for a touchdown.

Saint John Vianney 21, Middletown South 14

The Lancers extend their Shore Conference winning streak to 37 games thanks to 105 yards and two touchdowns on the ground from senior running back Johnny Buchanan. Senior wide receiver Zyaire Sterling added 77 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Point Boro 41, Ocean 18

Point Boro clinched the outright Class B South division title with their statement victory over Ocean. It is their third straight division title and second straight outright division championship. The Panthers’ running game was led by senior quarterback James Fara, who ran for 282 yards and four touchdowns. Point Boro accumulated a total of 493 yards on the ground. Senior running back Brandon Cipriano racked up 116 yards and a touchdown on six carries while senior fullback Tanner Gordon ran for 89 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
